Failing in the Pandemic with Alex Parry and Eva Freeman

Wednesday 24th March from 5pm - 6.30pm

We have been very slowly brewing the next series of writing the rules...  and will be starting again next Wednesday 24th March from 5pm - 6.30pm with a session led by Alex Parry and Eva Freeman. They have been working in a sheltered housing project in Tottenham as part of el warcha and they will be talking about things not going to plan in the pandemic, which will be followed by a discussion and an opportunity to share practice over the past few months.

24th March - Alex Parry and Eva Freeman

14th April - Chloe Cooper and Jackie Walduck

5th May - Jenny Pengilly

26th May - tbc

16th June - tbc

If you would like to come please RSVP and we can send you a link to the session. If you would also like to run a future activity/discussion/test out an artwork etc please get in touch! This could be in collaboration also.

Best wishes,

Alex and Sadie

17:22:10 From Sadie Edginton to Everyone : Sounds great!
17:48:07 From Laura Milnes to Everyone : Not even for a free pot plant?!
17:48:33 From Esther Collins to Everyone : Ha Ha we’ve had the same!
17:48:56 From Jenny Pengilly to Everyone : Pot plant would have sold it to me!
17:48:58 From Sadie Edginton to Everyone : So funny, I feel like its a performance work
17:51:12 From Sadie Edginton to Everyone : Does any one have questions/ comments for Alex and Eva ABOUT the project?
17:56:32 From Sadie Edginton to Everyone : It makes me think… should artists have to build links and do the labour of getting the group/ finding the people.. together?
18:03:40 From Bryony Hussey to Everyone : “Who is this for?” Is a question I wrestled with a lot in my projects in Ireland with youth centres and museums.
18:04:01 From Sadie Edginton to Everyone : Research you should share with other community artists!
18:05:13 From Sadie Edginton to Everyone : One question I think is - What is the project assuming about the people who you are expecting to be ‘engaged’?
18:07:11 From Laura Milnes to Everyone : And to accept that some people want a cup of tea and that’s ok, whereas others might want to participate more
18:18:41 From Sadie Edginton to Everyone : 1) Challenges you have faced in your work or practice due to the restrictions put on our ability to be social/have relationships in person.
2) What you have done to work with them
18:22:28 From Sadie Edginton to Everyone : More thoughts… What have people in your workshops / projects said they did appreciate or reasons why they did want to do it… why do people want to do it, and what do people want to do at the moment?
18:29:57 From Sadie Edginton to Everyone : What is the need from funders to get people to do art or be creative? If they haven’t asked for it.
18:31:57 From Chloe Cooper to Everyone : Yep whats app and phone calls is the way we’ve reached most people we’ve needed to work with through the renters union for sure
18:32:40 From Chloe Cooper to Everyone : i feel like artists could do all that work (and be good at it, AND come up with creative solutions) but it should be seen as separate work
18:33:02 From Chloe Cooper to Everyone : as in extra work and paid as such
18:33:05 From Bryony Hussey to Everyone : The intro/taster - “what we’re here to do” is it’s own project in many ways.
